Gut Health

gut health done differently

You've been told that everything looks normal, but you still don't feel good

You’ve seen your doctor. Maybe you’ve had a scope or two. You’ve been told to take acid suppressors, like Miralax, and then sent on your way. But the bloating, the cramping, the unpredictable days are still there. That’s frustrating, and it’s also really common.

At IFM Bend, gut health is one of the most frequent reasons patients seek out our care. We take a different approach: we actually want to know why your gut isn’t working, not just how to manage the symptoms.

We Don't Run Every Patient Through the Same Playbook

There’s a version of gut care that’s become unfortunately common. The kind where you’re handed a $1,000 stool test and a $1,000/month supplement protocol. We think that’s a disservice to patients, and that’s not how we practice.

Here’s what we actually do: we listen. Your symptoms tell us a lot. Sometimes targeted testing is the right next step, but not always. We recommend it when it’s genuinely going to change your treatment plan, not just because it’s on a checklist.

When supplements are part of the picture, they’re typically temporary, something to support your body while we address what’s actually driving the problem. The goal is to get you feeling better and get out of the way, not keep you on a protocol indefinitely.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all. Many of our patients come in with symptoms but no clear diagnosis yet. We’ll work through it together.
Maybe, maybe not. It really depends on what’s going on. We don’t run every gut patient through the same panel. If testing is going to genuinely help us understand what’s happening and change how we treat it, we’ll recommend it. If it won’t, we won’t waste your money.

Yes, but we’re thoughtful about it. If supplements are part of your plan, it’s because they serve a specific purpose, and they’re usually temporary.

Yes. We’re happy to work alongside your current care, and we can help you evaluate whether what you’re on is actually serving you.

A GI specialist is great for procedures and certain diagnoses, and we’ll refer when it’s appropriate. What we add is the time, the integrative lens, and the willingness to look upstream at what’s causing the problem in the first place. Many of our patients with gut issues have already been to GI and were told everything looks normal. That’s where we come in.
