Protecting Our Tiniest Patients: Understanding RSV Immunization for Infants
As a primary care practice focused on integrative health, we at Integrative Family Medicine of Bend are dedicated to keeping
You may have been here before. A different doctor at every visit, who might not know your child’s history. A five-minute appointment that ends with a prescription and no real conversation. Your child keeps getting sick, and the only answer is another round of antibiotics, but nobody’s asking why. And if you’ve ever brought up questions about vaccines, you know how fast that conversation can shut down.
Here, it’s different. Your child sees the same doctor at every visit, one who knows their name, their story, and what’s already been tried. Appointments start on time and you won’t be rushed out the door. If something acute comes up, you can call that day and be seen. And you’ll have direct access to your doctor after hours and on weekends, because kids don’t get sick on a schedule.
Well-child visits, sick visits, chronic disease management, vaccines, labs, imaging, referrals, and specialist collaboration.
Dr. Cooper builds time into her schedule every day for acute visits. When your kid wakes up miserable, you can call that morning and be seen, not sent to urgent care to wait two hours for a prescription.
Reach your doctor through the patient portal, email, or by phone for emergencies.
Dr. Cooper does her own vaccines and blood draws in the office. You can ask her questions directly.
From everyday coughs and colds to chronic concerns like ADHD, anxiety, and eczema, we treat the whole picture, not just the symptom in front of us.

Integrative pediatric care means your child gets more than a checklist at their well visit. This is time to get to know your child, answer your questions, and make sure they’re hitting their developmental milestones. But it’s also where we lay the groundwork, talking through the foundations of health like nutrition, sleep, exercise, and stress, and helping your child understand why it matters. And when something comes up, whether that’s ADHD, anxiety, constipation, or recurring ear infections, you won’t get a prescription as the only option. Dr. Cooper works from a full toolbox of conventional and alternative treatments, and the goal is always to find what actually works for your kid, not just what’s fastest.
Many parents seek out Dr. Cooper specifically for her approach to vaccines. She offers flexible and alternative schedules, administers all vaccines herself, and will never pressure you into a decision. Your questions are welcome here, not shut down.
Dr. Cooper attended a 4-year Naturopathic Medical school and completed additional training and a residency in family medicine. She is trained not only in conventional medicine but also has a vast playbook of alternative and integrative therapeutics for the pediatric population. This playbook includes knowledge about diet, herbal medicine, nutraceuticals, et. al.
Choosing whether and/or when to vaccinate your child can be complicated. What you decide to do for your child is your choice and what you believe is best for your child. We support whatever decision you make and are here to listen and answer questions. As a Naturopathic Pediatrician with more than a decade of experience, Dr. Cooper is well-versed on the intricacies of vaccines: from the differences in vaccine brands to the type and quantity of the included adjuvants. You won’t find a more knowledgeable pediatrician in Central Oregon.
The majority of our patients prefer a “Spaced Out” vaccine schedule that will still get your child immunized, but doing so one vaccine at a time (if possible) and prioritizing the vaccines the child needs for their specific age. For example, in infancy, we worry most about the diseases that cause respiratory illnesses and therefore start with the RSV, HIB, DTAP, and Pneumococcal pneumonia vaccines.
Dr. Cooper has several options for after-hours communication, including phone, email, and portal messaging.
